Start Your Career Early At Villanova

I recently attended a VSB Mentor informational session. In this program, Villanova students and alumni who have worked 3 years in the job sector establish relationships with students to help them achieve their career goals. Mentors help students answer any questions pertaining to their desired field. The mentors also help students to find jobs and establish relationships with people in the business world. I recommend this program, which empowers students to explore different career paths while cultivating connections in the business world. I also recommend this program for the astounding prospects: many students who have participated in this program have received extraordinary job offers because of their relationships with their mentors. In addition to these benefits, the expectations for this program is not daunting. Students have to commit to a mentor for 2 years and talk each month with the mentors. I encourage all VSB students to join this program. The commitment allows students to examine the current job market and decide what job they might prefer. The program also gives students a rare chance to listen to someone with workforce experience.

The Mentor Program also includes Flash Mentoring, an extra opportunity for juniors and seniors to connect with additional alumni. I recommend this program, especially, for juniors and senior years, the exact students who  are trying to find a job. For these students, different mentors would make the job search much easier! Contact with the additional mentor is very easy: you have the choice to contact them via phone, email, or in person.

The VSB Mentor Program has only been around for 5 years; since 2014, the program has connected 925 student-mentor pairs. This program has included 62% of all VSB students, and  95% of these students recommend the program. Erin Corcoran, who graduated from VSB, says, “The best part about having a mentor is gaining access to an alumnus who wants to give back to a fellow Villanovan.” Corcoran believes that her mentor allowed her to explore different types of business sectors, such as Private Equity and Real Estate. Corcoran also claims that because of her mentor she realised what type of job she wanted to pursue in the future.

Successful entrepreneurs like Daymond John recommend the Mentor Program. He encourages students to join this program because he feels that mentorship is one of the reasons many businesses are successful. He also claims that during his path to success, he had a lot of mentors. To this day, John seeks out mentors to help him face obstacles in his path.

At the end of the information session, they showed us how to register for the program. This program clearly offers so many benefits. The directors told us that if we have any more questions we should visit the Mentor Program home page
